A good parts guy and a good parts shop is a thing of beauty, and almost non-existent now. I do remember the day!
Not long ago I needed a new fan belt for my refrigerant recycling compressor. I brought the old worn out one with me. The parts guy's first words was what vehicle is this from? I told him it is no car part, we will have to match it by size. He kept asking for the vehicle type. So I told him it was from my 1941 Itchypussy tractor. He got out the belt measuring gizmo and gave up looking on the computer.
