I was wondering how this compared with the record run (at the time of the XR71) so of course I went to google it...
I was amused when I read this... if you look carefully, it says it traversed 3000 miles in just over an hour (which calculates out to 2812 mph) and the article calls it out as 2124 mph. Ha
