Core is stripped and hot tanked which removes all of the rust, dried fuel and any other particulates. Everything internally is replaced with new. Unit is sealed then bench tested and set to factory specs. Just had a -016 from a '77 930 restoration where the piston was hanging in the bore after sitting for years, the bore was honed fixing the problem. Tolerances are tight on these units, too much corrosion and they become unusable.
