I know what you mean. In a class of 52 we lost 2, and 2 permanently disabled. I didn't care much about the folks I went to school with, but the guys on the sports teams with me were different. We had a shared experience, even without a bond. When I went to the memorial in Washington I made a point of looking up their names. Brought back a lot of experiences. Yep. My best friend was there about two weeks and stepped on a land mine. Gone at 19.
I was numb for a long time and was mad that it was such a waste.

When I saw his name on the memorial wall I broke down and cried like a baby. Almost again while typing this. It was just wrong.
