No, unfortunately, there is no industry standard test. It would be kind of unfair, really, if there were. Different rifles behave differently when fired with the same variety of pellets. A good example would be my MAC 1 "Steroid" modified Benjamin 392 .22 caliber pumper vs. my RWS 48 side lever springer, also in .22 caliber. The pumper continues to generate more "power" in terms of foot pounds of energy as pellet weight increases, hitting its maximum with the heaviest .22 caliber pellet I've found - a JSB that weighs over 26 grains. The springer hits its maximum power level with a mid weight pellet of about 18 grains. So if I shoot the 26 grain pellet from both, the pumper has more power. If I shoot the 18 grain pellet from both, the springer has more power. And as the pellets get lighter, the gap widens, with the springer doing better and better. The pumper really needs the pellet weight to extract full power. But it's pretty much a tie if both are fed their preferred pellets.
I find the springers get quieter with use. Lots of use. Mine really got noticeably quieter after two or three tins of pellets, so 1,000 to 1,500 rounds. Some of the tuning kits claim they reduce noise, but I have no experience with them. Oh, and by the way - you think that springer is loud? Those darn "Steroid" pumpers crack like a .22. Pretty much way too loud for backyard plinking in most neighborhoods, unfortunately.

I'm glad you are enjoying it, Supe. Probably my all-time favorite handgun, the shorter barreled single action, either Colt or Ruger in .45 Colt caliber. The most all around "useful" handguns I own, at least for how I use a handgun. And just plain good fun to plink with as well. Great for teaching new shooters as well. Lots to like about them.
