Every cars and coffee I attend, in several states, has young guys ogling air cooled Porsches. Sure, they're ogling Ferraris and McLarens as well, but they're always chatting me up about my air cooled because they feel Porsches are within their reach (someday) and they can work on them themselves. These guys are no different than guys were in the 1950's, 60's, 70's and so on. There's a pool of car guys like this in every generation.
To attack Fred as clueless is laughable. Fred has more knowledge in his little finger than most of us here, but certainly more than his critic, who has next to zero credibility. Once you disagree with him, he goes nuclear. If he ever left his keyboard and went to a local C&C around here, he would see for himself.
This anger is symptomatic of the digital times we live in, where everyone with a keyboard feels their opinion matters. It doesn't.
