I am an engineering geologist. I work on construction projects, and study landslides and earthquake faults, etc.
Anyway, we geologists have a way of looking at empirical, approximate data and then making judgement calls, rather than relying on precise formulas, etc. Especially when there's so much uncertainty on a scientific topic. That's why I value some of the empirical raw data on the effectiveness of masks. There; we're back on topic.
