I knew one Marine WW2 Veteran that fought in the pacific. If anyone asked him about saying Jap he would talk about his first hand treatment and the war crimes they committed and we let them get away with without even an apology and go into a real rant. No one ever said anything to him a second time. He felt the same way about the Germans, but he did own a Mercedes.
The Germans, he said stood trial, and most were tried, and they still hunt Nazis, and the one movie character that can be portrayed as evil is a Nazi. Only Vampires are worse, and vampires are fictional.
