I did a little more searching and it looks like the metal bracket that holds the glass can be removed from the regulator without adjusting the alignment settings of the regulator. The slotted holes have a large opening on one side that the bracket can be maneuvered through and the glass assembly comes out pretty easy. I'm anxious about messing with any of this because it is aligned and working just fine as is... The "while I'm in there" bug is too strong to ignore the seals, though, before I put new door panels and vapor barrier on.

I'm going to try this method first. Since I have manual windows, only have two wires coming into the passenger door. It's actually pretty spacious, but I can see how the outer felt strip needs the window removed.
