It's likely the installer did not do it perfectly causing the less than stellar result. It looked to me like they knew what they were doing but what do I know, never messed with the stuff before.
But IMO if the product is that temperamental, I'll stick to ceramic tile in the future.

I'm sure it was a prep mistake. Id guess the leveler crumbled. That's the only thing that can make noise as LVT in itself is not temperamental at all. The problem is quite likely the same as in my neck of the woods. The guy who installed it could be a great carpet installer but not an experienced hard surface guy. Carpet hides a multitude of sins and prep work can be crude but works. Carpet is what everyone is getting away from but the installers need work and their license covers all. Less carpet to install,? branch out into hard surface and learn on the go
