Early on, I fitted Pirelli CN36, 215/60-15s on aftermarket Fuchs 7s on the rear of my stock bodied '69. At factory ride height, and if you drive sedately and never, ever negotiate road dips at speed or curves at more .4g, you should be ok. But why chance it?

Anything more than that - during steady state corners, there's a good chance the tire will rub/burn the famous quarter moon pattern through the paint about 2-1/2 - 3" up from the fender lip. Ask me how I know.

Maybe some combination of ride height, shock setting, spring rate or a Paris-to-Dakar-like setup might prevent that. If so, your ride (car) is compromised. Eliminate the interference, then drive without worrying about speed thresholds, driveways, cornering G forces, paint, fender and oil line rubbing.
