The 959's simple five spoke wheels were originally built with a special 'Denloc' bead design to keep the original Dunlop tires in place during hard launches. Canepa, years ago, developed a machining process to allow the original wheels to accept a traditional tire bead and modern compounds. The current crop of 959sc have been fitted with these modified 17" wheels, but Canepa has produced a visually identical wheel in an 18" diameter (at great expense, it should be mentioned), and will be fitting them to all 959sc models, with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, naturally.

Canepa’s 18” Porsche 959 magnesium hollow spoke wheels. One of the most iconic visual identifiers of the all-wheel-drive legend is its set of special 5-spoke wheels. Each spoke has empty void in its spokes to reduce excess material, and the entire wheel was made of the ultra-lightweight metal magnesium, making the wheels special and iconic. Porsche used 17” wheels on their production cars, but did you know that wasn’t the original plan? In this post, the silver wheels are the old 17” models and the dark grey ones are our new 18” designs.........................

We removed the tire pressure monitoring system which was sometimes unreliable. Lastly, we had our designs TÜV tested to ensure their strength and integrity for safety. And the greatest part? No modifications are needed to ANY Porsche 959 to use them.
