Old school CB radios will work when the cell towers are down.
I'm 10-7 till the then.
After the big one here in SoCal; the USMC depots will have massive tent cities in Yermo & Nebo(by Barstow)
Walking up I-15 Cajon Pass will be an adventure for sure.
