I got some softer Salomons a few years back - at the place in Taos where I got them they called them the "work boot" as they were pretty soft. Compared to my old race boots they were miracles. No tears if you got stuck halfway in or out. Stiff enough for this old body, too - I spent enough time in old monster pink Langes to do that again...
Then again, in the S Rockies, I tele when the snow's good. Those scarpas are ballet slippers in comparison!
