I second the compound bow.
No report from a rifle shot, arrows (I still use alum with expanding broadheads) you can reuse even with a moderate damage.
Besides with a .22 you need the bullet to expand and it might have too much velocity to do that, a broadhead is short range but will absolutely spend all it's force which is the more humane option if you have the skill and range to do it.
No Coyotes here yet but Fisher Cats and Groundhogs (that dig holes into the coop for other animals)
