The most recent vintage of F-150 I have owned was a 2005. One coil pack issue in ten years. I sold it with 170k on it.
I was planning on buying another F-150 in 2015 but the local Ford dealer would not help me on price or options. I wanted a plain 4x4 crew cab truck with leather, heated seats.
The local Toyota folks worked both price and configuration...I got exactly the truck I wanted: they ordered the seats and installed them in a lower trim level without all the electric stuff I was never going to use.
Frankly, the Tundra is great but I bought on price since trucks really are incredible vehicles, nothing like the trucks I grew up with on the ranch.
Hard to go wrong. I do tow a lot and am very satisfied, especially with the selectable tow mod on the transmission. BTW, first I have heard of towing issues with the turbo on the F-150.
Good luck!
