Yeah, we have groups A, B, C, D. You are classed in a group based on your stock vehicle based on SCCA stock classes (more than one class in a group) and you'll get bumped up a group based on modifications. Mods are assigned points, including tire treadwear.
My car in stock form on high treadwear tires would actually fit in B, but I have enough mods and also ST legal tires (200TW) to bump me to "A". Which then basically becomes unlimited.
I'm often fighting for fastest time of day with a Lotus Elise on Hoosier A7's...... maybe one time out of three I beat him.
The other cars in class are usually WRX Sti's, mustangs, M3's, Focus RS. New stuff. Usually lots of noise but not a lot of speed
