Currency has moved in your favor a little. Mightn’t be a bad time to reach across the border and snaffle up a US car. If your inclination was long-hood, maybe a mid-year g-body is a good spot to look. Narrow hips and lower weight are a nice bridge bw the old and new and a hot 2.8 or 3.2SS would be an exciting prospect.
Calling mechanics is a good shout but I’d have thought they may not give you much time of day if there’s no prior relationship. Don’t call on a Monday or a Friday afternoon. If you tire of that, there are a couple of folks on here that sniff out and inspect cars for a fee. They may have a lead on a couple.
