Yep, his decision to jump to Mercedes when they were just an also ran team was an epic choice. Either he was clairvoyant or very lucky. No one can doubt he is a top driver, but he had the best car. He never crashed it on race day. He did not have bonehead Vettle like moves. He just had the best car by a huge margin.
