If you only found a bit of play between the shaft and the bushing, I'd guess it wasn't a bad bushing causing the noise. Bushing is generally found broken in pieces and metal to metal contact is causing the noise. You probably fixed it by zip tying the lines that were probably vibrating. Anyway, the bushing was bound to deteriorate before much longer so replacing it and re-greasing it while you were in there was a good thing.
