Another way to test the outlet is to by past it. Connect the wire themselves together black to black, white to white and turn on disposal. This way you rule out if there are any cuts or wires that are grounded from the outlet forward. Its rarely the wires. I bet you hooked it up wrong. You should rule out bad wires. That's the first thing I do only because its really easy to do since you have the switch out already. Its a simple process of elimination without simple tools and a couple wire nuts which you may already have around?
