Kids and Snow Days

I thought about this the other day, the kids these days are getting the shaft. Growing up in DFW, you would pray the night before that the weather would get bad enough that they would cancel school. You prayed twice if there was a test the next day.

Now, with all the technology, and Covid protocol emergence, snow days are a thing of the past. Watching the news the other morning, I kept seeing district after district announce learning would be online/remote for the day, district offices closed. What a bummer! I remember waking up early to get the good/bad news.

I think snow days are an essential part of a child development. I learned quite a bit about physics on those days. Friction, gravity, expansion...

What do you think? Have any snow day stories?

We only had a few days where school was canceled. I only recall a couple of snowball fights, and usually by noon it was melted and the fun was over.
