My biggest gripe with counterfeit parts is auto parts, which is why everything I buy comes from a authorized dealer. Ssame with bearings and seals and similar stuff. I go to the bearing house, hold the new part in my hands and inspect it before a sale is made.
Same thing with luxury goods. I wouldn't buy something from Rolex, LV, Hermes or whomever that didn't come from one of their stores.
I'm now in a phase of my life where I've bought all the durable goods and toys I'll ever want and am now downsizing and offloading most of it. You wake up one day and decide you don't need it all and don't want it all anyway.
I can live without the latest computer or TV just fine.
