My house is outside of the debris field, but the plane probably came very close to flying over my house on the way back to DIA.
Just saw the local news report on this and...
Luckily this eye opening incident happened, literally, minuets (less than 20 miles) after taking off from DIA, not somewhere over the 2700ish miles of water it was going to fly over!
It would have seemed much longer on the plane, but i would guess that the plane was in the air less than 20 min total.
Another lucky thing is its a bit of a cold, overcast day so the park where some debris landed was unusually empty. Thank goodness nobody on the ground, or the airplane, was injured.
From a lability standpoint, far too much damage happened from (relatively light weight) falling debris, but from a ME standpoint, so many safety things worked correctly and the plane was able to make a controlled/safe landing!
