5 years without an oil change?!?! That’s verging on abuse. Why would he go 3 years without paying $30 for an oil change? That blows my mind. You’ll be picking up the tab for the complete lack of service over the past few years with this car- expect lots of little things to crop up.
Removing the engine & transmission would require the sway bar to be disconnected. Has the clutch been replaced?
