Back in 2006 or 2007 or so on my way to work, a cattle liner loaded with horses hit the ditch and rolled at the south end of Calgary. I was on my way too a meeting with a customer but called and said I’d be late. There were horses running up and down the median, about 1/2 had to be euthanized at the scene as they had broken bones from the accident. The driver of the truck was messed up. The firemen tried to create a makeshift corral with their trucks as we rounded up these horses and I tried to find another cattle liner with a loading shoot.

It was a mess.

These were all headed to Lethbridge where they slaughter horses. Some were sorta tame, most were very wild.

It was a mess doing all this before the sun came out. I think I was 1st or 2nd on the scene.

It was a mess. I did what I could and handed it off to animal control and the ‘trained professionals’ after a couple hours.
