I feed mine Solid Gold-Indigo Moon ($) and Regular Purina blue. He prefers the first one and eats less of it. It probably has enough nutrition. He's still been a bit on the chunky side without another cat around to pester him.

Also give him a 1/4 can or so of different kinds of wet. Older cats don't need as much protein..so a bit less these days.

I've tried a few wet kinds:.
-Aldi turkey livers in small amounts with water (it's pretty thick and fatty). Aldi seafood only in the small can.
The other Aldi flavors he doesn't care much for but will eat.
-Tried a couple BFF flavors which he seemed to like.
-Most of the Purina wet flavors he doesn't mind either and prefers hamburger. Maybe just hungry that day.
-The Solid Gold flavors he and the dog like as well. Especially Turkey-pumpkin. Pumpkin settles the stomach.
-The only bad reaction was Weruva Polynesian BBQ which looked like hearty whole pieces of fish but both he and the dog puked and wouldn't eat again. Probably a bad batch or something.
