I think putting a restriction on the suction side of the oil pump is stupid. Adding something that of it fails might destroys you engine, well, your choice.
A puff of white smoke, these engines has done this since 1964, some after a while, some directly from the show room floor. That has never hurt anything else than feelings.
If you really, really think you need it, don't skimp on it, $70 more might be cheap...
