Greetings all,
This is half question and half a request for some education.
I have a 1979 Targa which is currently in the paint shop (pictured). As part of the process I picked up a Carrera tail and put it on the car. I just like the Carrera tail better than the '79 turbo tail, so there it is.
Whenever the topic of the tail comes up, it invokes a comment of something like "...you should also put a front spoiler on for the balance." I actually like the aesthetic of the spoiler so I would like to add it regardless of the potential of aerodynamic performance. The car had a tail at one point in its life, however the previous owner doesn't remember it ever having the front spoiler. Searching the internet, it looks like the few Targas that have a tail, also have a front spoiler.
I did find a picture of one with the same tail and the front spoiler I am looking into (see below).
Last bit of info is that the front valance has holes along the bottom which look like they could be used to mount a spoiler, but I don't see any on the sides or in the lower fender where the sides might attach.
So here is the question/education request: Was the front spoiler an option which, when added, gave the gave a different valance and fender to mount it?
Or, should any car be able to accept a spoiler like the one shown on the red car in the pic?
Has anyone added a front spoiler to a car that didn't previously have one? If so, I would love to get some guidance.
As always, thank you to all!!

The word "spoiler" is only used 9 times in that post.
