(I've had both) I've currently got roll up garage doors and a few years ago I installed auto door lifts myself.
They're better than panel doors because they don't hang down from the ceiling and take up less room but you can't insulate them. Not a big deal for Australia.

Just a word of caution.
- The lifting spring for all doors are very powerful and I've heard some horror stories about them.
