I am trying to get smarter on 928's in general . Is it true the early 4.5 and 4.7 engines are not interference but the 5.0 and later are ? If that is accurate is that worth considering when purchasing ? I think 1985.5 was the changeover from 16V non- interference to 32V interference does that sound accurate ?
I had a 944S and had a pro install the timing belt . Had that same pro do an inspection/retention 5K miles after install . A month later the belt broke and bent valves were the result 😩 . So I am a little gun shy on interference engines 😁 . Does anyone make an aftermarket timing chain or timing gear setup for these ? Just thinking out loud .
