There is one in my shop , I built my office over it . It would be a great place to put an alignment lift, or quickie oil change bay, but my pit is not quite deep enough . Id much rather work off a lift any day .
Imagine cleaning up the oil and coolant spills . Mine was a greasy scary mess of a place, not hospitable in any way . I floored right over that sucker
