The 4 valve cars drive so much better. Cam belt changes don’t have to be done that often, I wouldn’t make that any kind of consideration. It sounds like the “pro” mentioned above screwed up the tensioning of the belt.
Make sure you drive a five speed before you commit to a transmission choice.
I think The Sweet Spot is probably an early S4.
