I would never buy a 16V car, the 32V cars ARE the way to go.
I've driven and owned both in auto and manual guise and would focus on a 32V car, the first year is '86.5 not '85.5.
Timing belts are not as scary as you think - what looks intimidating below?
Here is the last timing belt I did on my '87, as mentioned above, 1/2 a days work.
