The abridged version:
You bring brother in law into the family business. After a while he starts showing up after noon, and spends a large part of the day cruising porn. When we asked him to a meeting to figure out how to split up the partnerships, he shows up with sister and a lawyer. Then spend 6 figures on lawyers and arbitrators.
Didn't realize it at the time, but it was the best money we ever spent.
Moral? While we had partnership agreements, the exit plan was not iron clad.
