Switched to a Merkur safety razor and Persona blades years ago. I used a brush and fancy shave stuff for a while, then discovered Cremo shave cream. Best shave I've ever had. Takes no more time than the old Mach 3 and goo in a can shave.

I do two passes usually, first with the grain, then once across. If I go against the grain *shudder* it sucks for a month!
