Two different problems.
Engine temp sensor plugs into a grommet in the manifold between 4-5. If out Of position it often falls onto a hot engine part and runs more than usual.
The engine fan in my C2 seldom ran really only after a long, hard run. The fan on my turbo ran multiple times after a hot run.
A failing ignition switch can cause multiple problems, climate control is one of them.
