Possibility that the omega spring is missing or maladjusted. The clutch cable needs to be almost pretensioned and the omega spring needs to work in synch with the clutch pressure required.
I have a G50 with a hydraulic clutch and wouldn't say it's any lighter than either of my 915 equipped cars.
