I had to Wiki Willie when I saw this thread.... thought we might share the same date.
I'm a bit younger than you guys... huge baseball fan as a pre-teen and by 72-73 was a devout NY Mets (mostly Tom Seaver) fan ... and I had to watch Willie when he was a "shadow" of his former self.... it was sad.
But my dad was a big SF Giants fan .... so I knew the real deal  . Wish I could have seen him play in his "Say hey" daze ...
