The two thoughts that I had from the video. The bad guys were shooting at the right side of the vehicle from the left. When they started shooting, he swerved hard left. I'm guessing that serves two purposes, 1 if the guns are on the left side of the shooting vehicle and you swap to the other side, it gives you some time while they move the guns to the other side and 2 swerving in front of that vehicle would probably put them on the defensive and throw them off their game.
Then farther in the chase when the guys in the other pick up truck are outside the truck, running through them probably also serves a couple of purposes, 1 you may take some out 2 if they scatter because they are running for their lives, it'll probably take them longer to get back in their vehicle to pursue you.
