CIS does get a hard time, but you’re doing your utmost to muscle the pendulum well beyond the other way. CIS is not a performance induction system. It’s an emission reduction system. It runs hot and it runs lean out of the factory. It’s also rudimentary at the expense of throttle response. Stoich -> lean spot -> rich (but probably shy of optimal). There is very little adjustability to get optimal AFR at all throttle angles. Beyond 1980 it is also electric. 02 sensor tells the computer to the change the duty cycle and adjust control pressure to keep lambda.
When it’s well setup, it is a very carefree and a great system for city driving. It’s also performance enough bc the engine is so torquey. I own one and do love it but getting performance out of it is comparably far more difficult and expensive than a 3.2.
