I dunno. Maybe we are just too lenient in our criminal justice system.

Maybe parenting has become too lenient (same thing as lazy in some regards).

We'll never prevent bad things happening but when we catch people doing bad things lets exact proper and swift justice.

Disclaimer: I'm not involved in the criminal justice system so my thoughts are just from the peanut gallery. The comments about parenting though come from someone who was raised by parents who were both disciplinarians and knew how to use a belt on their kids' rear ends when warranted!
