Yea, they require cotton long pants (jeans) and long sleeved cotton shirts, or a driving suit.

They had us do one entire session where we practiced passing with a point by. All the fast cars went out in front of me and there was no way in hell I could catch them to pass even when they were all supposed to slow down. Finally one of the other instructors went out in the Porsche GT4 and drove slow enough for me to pass him and then point for him to pass him. They want us to first point at your rear view mirror, to acknowledge you see the faster car, and then stick your hand all the way out pointing left, or all the way out and point over the car to the right.

The instructors were mostly driving new BMWs that were factory prepared as competition models, and have automatic transmission, but they can shift with the paddles. Either way a shift is milliseconds for them. I explained I have a 915 transmission, a clutch, and long throw so a fast shift is a full second at least. With all the shifting, my right had was busy shifting and my left had is steering, and I have no extra hand to point with.

One guy was in a new Cayman 718 and I stayed with him for 20 minutes. He could not leave me behind. In the pits I told him the reason I can stay with him is he does not trust his brakes. I told him he was braking where I was and even soon that I was, and I have analog brakes in a 36 year old car. He can go way deeper into a corner.

He too my advice and the next session I lined up behind him, and he too dissipated.

No doubt I had the slowest car there, but it is comfortable summer or winter. I turned 178,000 miles on the way to the track from the hotel that morning.
