I used Nichols. Pretty solid for the basic refurb and mild modification. In my case they installed trim rings and silver dots on my '77 gauges. Had to supply the items though.

Tommy, your problem could be more of an input issue than the tach itself. Tachs and ECU's have a complex relationship. Though you're not talking engine swap (I think) this thread might be interesting to you.
