I'm looking for a stronger diesel truck to tow heavier trailers and the pickings suck in the used diesel market. A new or late model truck for $40-50k is not in the cards, it doesn't pencil-out for my use at this time. Everyone knows that it's a seller's market right now, so I'm looking at every brand.
I'd prefer a Ford or GM but I'm finding some Rams that are in decent condition, not abused/etc... I see a lot of people using them as intended out on the wild blue yonder of western states, pulling huge trailers, etc. They even seem to be the truck of choice in Wyoming and Montana...maybe it's just my imagination(?) Seems like it.
Everything I've read here on PPOT points to major issues, what are they and are they addressable? Can they be made to be bullet-proof trucks? The engines certainly seem to run for a very long time. I know very little about 24-valve Cummins, so fire away, guys. School me.
Thanks a million.
