I would suggest paying it down asap.
Suze Ormand (yeah I know tv personalities) is fanatical about the emotional freedom of being debt free.
Some people thrive on juggling multiple risks and ventures at once, some get slowly worn down by them.
Run the loan numbers through a mortgage calculator, and determine what extra he'd be paying at the end of it all. You may be surprised.
If there is another investment for that money making more than 7% guaranteed he'd be staying ahead.
