I rebuilt the engine on my last Porsche... a '72 with an '82 engine, after missing a shift on the track. I enjoyed the rebuild process despite running into a few snags. The car ran great when I was done, but I was always nervous about the longevity of my own rebuild. Did I do it right? Was it going to come apart at some point? Those thoughts, and just not really having the time to play with the car eventually caused me to sell it. Now prices are just too crazy. I could always justify a $15K 911 as it would maintain its value, but more often appreciate.
