I'm from Florida and love the water. I certainly have no fear of it, but its power can be awesome. I can't imagine being on the open ocean in a big ship that's being tossed around like a toy.

I would have thought that would be one of those instances where they get a harbor master kind of guy to essentially valet park the boat. You'd think that sort of accident would be almost impossible. And it probably is, but for every complex system with a slew of checks and balances, there's a perfect storm of issues that can occur like a giant Rube Goldberg machine to cause these sort of accidents.
We need Yellowperil to chime in. Even if he's never had anything pop up in his little slice of water, I'm sure he's got some interesting stories. I remember him posting the one about the hatch covers, and some of his photos.
