I have found that my rimfire pistols are at the top of their form after a good chamber cleaning and a couple of patches down the barrel. My "clean" test is to put a 22 rd in the chamber and then turn the barrel up. If it is clean, the round will drop out from it's own weight. The only 22 I own that doesn't require this type of cleaning is my Remington Nylon 66 that I have owned for almost 60 years! It will eat any 22LR I put into it! All the other semi autos will eventually develop sticky chambers that affect extraction of the empty case.
