Only the first part in bold actually applies to this particular complaint. And the complaint is valid.
I bought an operating system.
Not a social network.
The closest analogy would be buying a house, but then the previous owner sticks a freeway billboard in the front yard.
Or imagine if this spilled over into other forms of electronics and retention of 'manufacturer rights' to alter a purchased device and a legal contract long after the fact. You drive your kid to school and try to have a conversation, but then the radio decides to turn on by itself to announce a message "too important to miss".
